Kate commenced practice as a Solicitor in private practice in Moree in 2007, before joining the Moree office of the Aboriginal Legal Service. During her time in Moree, Kate gained valuable insight into the vulnerability and disadvantage experienced by the Aboriginal community. This experience instilled in Kate a strong sense of commitment to the pursuit of justice. Kate’s time as a Solicitor with the Aboriginal Legal Service extended over an eight-year period in Moree and later in Grafton.

Kate joined the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in 2016 and conducted her first jury trial in 2019. Kate was later promoted to a position as Solicitor Advocate with the ODPP. She held this role for over 5 years. This position involved conducting jury and judge alone trials in the NSW District Court and providing advice on serious and complex criminal matters. Kate was also the junior counsel in the NSW Supreme court in a complex Murder trial involving expert witnesses in 2023. Kate’s time at the ODPP gave her good insight into the prosecution approach to the justice system.

Kate has almost 20 years experience in the legal system. Kate brings with her, knowledge from both sides of the bar table, having extensive experience as defence and in prosecuting. This experience means Kate is well equipped to assist, advise and represent the interests of her clients to a high standard.
